It's me Zach, I make records. Though of course you knew that already since you're on my site. Anyways, I've decided to do this blog that I update every week or so. My attention span is generally short so I guess this is my attempt to work on that. I'll be covering a wide variety of topics in no particular order, but generally focused in the world of writing, recording and playing music.

The Blog is separated into the following categories:

Audio Engineering

I've been lucky enough to be the guy hitting record for various projects in many different settings and I've learned plenty and continue to do so every day. This category will be a place for me to share things I've learned and observed while being focused on the technical end.

Music Production

Often when you are the "recording engineer" you fill the producers shoes as well. Especially now with budgets shrinking and independent artists becoming a norm. That has definitely been the case in my experience and this role has a more substantial effect on the final product anyways. In this category, I'll be taking a more creative approach to the music making process.

Songwriting

Since most of the people I work with are songwriters, that has rubbed off on me. Here I'll be sharing things I have found to be helpful in smoothing out the flow words into saying what I really want to.

Live Performance

Performing is really the culmination of everything else in the world of music. I’ll be diving into everything from before the show starts to after its all over.

Deep Dives

The best advice I’ve ever gotten is to remain a student of your interests. There’s always more to learn. Here I’ll be dissecting songs that have captured my attention and changed the way I approach music.
